About Delcoa

It is known in the West as "folky-funk rock and it's coming towards you, so get ready to get down, bob your heads and sing along. Wrap folk, funk, blues and good ol' rock n' roll around tight harmonies that erupt from four men and one soulful woman and what you get is Phoenix-based band Delcoa. Composed of five musicians each from unique and diverse musical backgrounds, Delcoa comes together with honest and memorable songwriting, dynamic stage presence and a grooved-up backbone that keeps listeners' heads bobbin' back for more. With a couple years under their belt and armed with an acclaimed full length debut album, "Roots, Bridges and Branches" and a fresh follow-up record "Simply Listen," Delcoa is the hottest band in the nation's hottest city.

Delcoa was built in 2005 on the foundations of lead singer Jay Allan's catchy guitar playing and heartfelt songwriting with Ashley Norton's dynamic and soul filled voice. Known as "Jay & Ash," the duo began by playing anywhere they could, including small restaurants and night clubs. As the crowds grew, word spread and shortly thereafter they were recruited to play some of Phoenix's best music venues. However, people clamored for a band to accompany the fantastic duo.

In the beginning of 2006, Jay and Ash met with friends and Phoenix music scene all-stars, bassist Ethan Newman and drummer Tony King for a stripped down jam session. They quickly realized they had that elusive thing called chemistry and Delcoa was born. After only a handful of rehearsals and a short list of material, they eagerly headed into Livinghead Studios to record. The result was their debut album, "Roots, Bridges and Branches."

Shortly after the album release, Delcoa played a show with friend and lead guitarist extraordinaire, Jay Poole. They instantly knew that he was the final piece of the puzzle and asked him to hop on board. After many shows, blood, sweat and tears, Delcoa then lived hours in Jay Poole's home studio to produce the next album. In early 2009, "Simply Listen" is born. This new storybook of songs takes you through a wide-range of eclectic vocals, rhythm and space; taking chances while hooking audiences in with a collection of distinctive hits. Delcoa continues to grow into a powerhouse of self described "folky-funk rock" and the voices just keep getting louder.
